The problem is current day fuel, I had problems with a ferguson 40. It would run for about a month on a set plugs. I have had the same plugs in it for 3 years now. I talked to a Champion rep. and he told me to use a plug with a higher heat range. The number on a Champion indicates heat range. Example: J19LM is hotter than J17LM. Use a J14 rather than a J8. It is important to use fuel stabalizer (such as Stabil)in any fuel that is subject to set over 60 days. I have a small engine shop and 90 + % of the problems I see are caused by bad fuel

You could also use the Champion J-17LM or J-19LM which can be used in the place Of the J-8 in lawn mowers.

Champion J8's are OK, but, I like NGK B4's better. DONT use resistor plugs or resistor wires, you'll fry the mag coil, I guarantee it.

I am in the process of fixing up an Allic B. I replaced the old plugs with AC Delco R45.

R means resister in the R 45"s. Resister plugs are not the best choice. I bought a set and had no problems the first year. Started to have a miss problem and bought another set of the R 45"s still had a miss under power. Put in a set of Autolite 295"s and the miss was gone. I have now had problems with the Autolite"s just quiting on me. I have had good results the last two years by buying Champion J8"s buying them one in a package from the lawn mower parts display in the farm store"s. Lawn mower plug are not resister plugs. I am just guessing that the Champion plugs that are condemned here are resister plugs bought by the box.
