wc - plug gap? running rough.

i rebuilt the head, and put on a side exhaust manifold. i started it up today, but it didn't idle smooth. would do a pop pop, in with the idle. would shoot a flame out the pipe when it pops.

it would smooth out and pull under load. i still haven't found my wc book, wondering if it could be plug gap. what is it suposed to be?

any ideas on what else to check?

Be sure all your intake gaskets are sealing good.

Plug gap is .020-.025, but not likly to be the problem. It maybe you need to look at the valve setting and make sure they are set right and or it could be the carb is running to lean. One question. Did you only rebuild the head or did you also do the rings etc. If all you did was the head you will probably be doing the rings etc with in a year or 2.
