Yeah you can get a tractor for $400...but everyone realizes that if your going to do a complete restore, or even just get it to working order, you'd better plan on spending at least $1000, or as much as $5000 to restore, depending on your plans and the tractor. The beauty of this hobby is that it's embraced by the average, traditional American with a love for the great things of yesterday, and keepin' them great. While the elitist snobs are out there buyin' beach houses and beemers, were droppin' what we've got on keepin' America great and makin' kids smile....huggin' old iron.

SURE i can understand that,BUT, i'm here for the fun,not to spend alot of cash. my tractor would diffently be worth a whole bundle figuring my hourly wage an so on. i guess that's why i have to buy tractors that run. My thing is the cosmetic part.I guess it just depends on how big a project you want. AND I STILL say that a $200.00+ starter on a $400.00 tractor is way to much. Not everyone has to live in a 5000 sq ft house and drive $60,000.00 rig,nor can we.

I have an extra delco starter from a 1941 B. I was thinking about putting it on e-bay but would sell it directly. I will have to look at it to see if it is a #1107043. You can call me at 440 653-7052 if you are interested.

Shoot me an email with your location. I have several take off"s that has the drive part that was switched to use a key to start. I would have to check them out to make sure any would have good starter motors.
I think all that would have to be done would be to change the bolt back to the contact stud.

Be sure to buy Delco. I understand that replacement switches are not available for the Auto-Lite.

not cheap, but realistic, i heard about the price hike on ALL THE OTHERS FORUM. DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD HIT SO FAST. it takes the fun out of getting a piece of junk fixed up and painted so you can feel proud of the elbow grease and more grease and sanding and painting. anytime a person has to buy a $250.00 starter for a $400.00 tractor, your going to see alot more of them go to SCRAP. that's my opinon.HAVE A GOOD ONE BOB AND ALL YOU OTHER CHEAP BUGGERS gary
