Hi, we have a 1968 XT-190. It runs ok for a while, then it slows and quits. When it is doing this it has blue colored smoke coming out of the exhaust. Usually you can start it again right away and it will run ok for a while again. Quite some time ago I removed the sediment bowls and they did have partially blocked inlets, but that did not cure the problem. Does anybody have any ideas, eg: Blocked return line, fuel line, injectors, injector pump? Any help greatly appreciated Th James

I would do what the others said. sounds like good advice to me. Also I would check the fuel line first. I have a 200 and it has to be cleaned out every once and a while or it will die and not run right.

If we get a new injector pump or rebuild this one will the injectors need work or cleaning?
The valve on the top of the pump for the return line has had stuff in it, so will any of this be in the injectors or would it have gone through.
Does anyone have a good pump for this tractor for sale? Thnx Jaz

You might check the little check valve in the top of the injector pump which is connected to the return line. I am told if this check valve plugs-up the engine will stall. This valve plugs-up from some deteriorating plastic parts in the pump. If this is the problem you need to have the injector pump rebuilt.

BC is probably right. Seen that many times on a diesel, fuel filters start to clog and then they will run ok for a little while then just die and then start right back up and 90% of the times its the filters.
