WELL I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.thumbing through a parts mag. for starter drives, like JOHN T said. and all the others that helped put this thing to rest. IT'S A DA.. STARTER FOR THE ALLIS G. HAS ONLY 10 TEETH. the C has 14 teeth. now i don't claim to know anything about this,but the mag. sells the G starter under a different item #. now do you think i can buy just the drive and switch them. the distance to the ring gear from the outside of the case measures the same as the starter can reach, must have a larger gear to reach the ring gear. sound good? what say you's? gary

A g starter ingages in reverse from c starter, the g starter pulls in instead of pushing how is that going to work? Maybe I'm lost here but I have restored 10 b's, g's, and c's. Hope you understand, a g starter mounts from the front and a c mounts from the back,otherwise it would turn the engine backwards. hope this helps
