wd to wd45 conversion???

Could anyone please tell me what it would take to increase the HP of the wd?? I have been told that I could just install a wd45 crank and rods in the existing wd block and then use the 4 1/8" big bore kit. Is this all there is to the swap, or am I getting myself into trouble???? Any info would be GREATly appreciated!!! Thankx!

You do not need new rods as WC,WD,&WD45 rods are all the same. Wrist pin location on 45 pistons is in different location. In addition to the 45 crank & crater style piston set, you would need the 45 or early D17 manifold & carburator & governor spring to really do it all the way.

People have been putting "45" kits in WD`s for about 53 years now. I"m surprised there is a WD around that hasn"t already been stroked.

Can't recall the journal diameters but think that crank SHOULD fit. If everything clears what you are proposing should work. May need to change the governor springs also.

If you are looking to realy crank things up may want to consider droping in a complete late series D17 engine or one out of a "E" gleaner.

These are pretty much a drop in exchange. Will need to do some governer work if using a gleaner engine. If you do this the mill will stick out like a sore thumb to people who know these tractors but 95% won't notice the difference.
