Will a WD-45 cylinder head fit a 1947 WC block?

Thanks for the info. If it was direct substitution, I would do it. Since it isn't, I'll grind the seats on my WC head rather than picking up the 45 head.

You'll need new studs, but it'll drop right on. Also need a WD45 set of rocker arms and a WD45 valve cover. I know I have a valve cover that I'd sell and maybe a set of rocker arms. Pushrods were the same. The early WC's did not have the 3 smaller head studs on (if memory serves) the water jacket side of the head. Changed that before 47 (again IMS).

Use the 45 specific studs & head bolts & goes right on. I have one just like that.

Yes it fits but there may be some minor swapping of parts like studs etc. The older WCs used less head bolts than the late ones and WDs so you may also have three un-used holes on the right side of the head.

Texas, I just looked in a catalog I have and they call for differant heads for the WD45 then on the WC and WD

My guess and thats all it is, would be yes. From what I understand the 2 engines are almost the same other then stroke and piston size.
