Castellated rod nuts, WD 45

It's been hard to find new castellated nuts for my connecting rods. Thinking about using the old one's. If so 70'lbs torque on castellated and if I use reagular nuts 40'lbs? Which is better. Working on WD 45

If I remember correctly, the Castelled nut torque was lower than 70ft pounds, believe 35. Did not find my WD and WD45 manuals tonight.

I am a master mechanic on the WD and WD45 and the ACHD6. Son pointed me to this site. I would be glad to help on questions when I have the time.
Next time I will not post without a manual in hand.

I bought the first WD in Northern California, serial# 165, July of 1948 with money saved during WW2. $1850. (Tank Commander/Squad Leader at age 18)

Overhauled the WD engine in 1995 (47 years later).
Used +1/8" sleeves and switched to the 1/2" longer stroke WD45 crankshaft. If I remember correctly, went from 206 cu in to 226 cu in.

On the old Cases I use the old castle nuts over and run a chaser over the bolts. The keys are overkill but I put them back in anyway

The castelated nuts were used with saftey wire to keep the nuts from coming loose. the regular nuts were a crush nut (lock nut), if your rod bolts are drilled for the saftey wire then I'd use them.
