Hello, I have a B that began loading up with fuel. One side of the float was full of gas, I drilled a pinhole in both sides to drain it, then soldered the holes up. It made no difference as to how it ran. I have since put a new float and kit in it, filed both halves to where they meet perfectly flush, did a complete tune up on the tractor, cleaned every passage in the carb, and it is still loading up just as bad as it was before I started working in it. I have also set the float in tiny increments, cutting the fuel level to the point that it is way below where it should be, and it hasn't helped. Is there something I have overlooked, or do I just need to buy a new carb. The adjustment screw has little effect on how it runs. The tractor ran perfectly before this mess began. Any advice as to what to do will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any rust issues? Another idea is if you are not using the SS needle valve and are using the rubber like tiped ones, try inserting it and tapping it lightly to (shape the seat better) or seat it in the seat. If you are using the SS tiped ones, dry the needle valve and mark up the needle valve with a magic marker (where it makes the seat) Then spin it a full turn in the seat with light pressure. It should rub the magic marker off if it is seating correctly. Dave NE IA

Brian,
Be sure the air cleaner is not plugged. A plugged air cleaner will act like a choke. Test by removing the connection between the carb and cleaner.

I had the same problem a few years back. My carb has no main jet adjusting needle. I did the same things that you did. Finally, I went to an Allis dealership and ordered a new main jet. Tractor now runs perfect.

Does that carb have 1 or 2 adjustments on it?? If it has 2 thn you probably still have some junk in the carb some place. If it has a main jet adjustment, if you close it all the way the engine should die. If it doesn't then you still have junk in the carb and there your problem. When you clean a carb you need to soak it over night at least in some good carb cleaner.
