We have an AC 200 that we entered into a tractor pull this summer. At about 200 ft. the wheels stopped turning and the engine rpm's never came down. This tractor also moves in neutral on the power director, but can be stopped with the brake. Is the power director damaged and slipping or is the foot clutch more likely to be slipping?

I have an AC 200 and last summer while we were going from field to field in 4 hi of course it would sometimes slip out of 4th in to netural. It slipped so bad that I had to drive home in 3 rd gear which let me tell you is not very fast. We took it to town and got it fixed and it never did it after that. I dont know what it was the guy said happened. But I do remember it being kind of expensive to fix.

It could be either, Eric. The easiest way to determine which clutch is effected is by putting a load on the PTO. (Since the 200 does not have a live PTO, power goes through the foot clutch but not the power director clutch.) If the speed of the PTO drops under load, its the foot clutch, if it does not drop, its the power director clutch. Also, some creeping with the power director in neutral is normal, excessive creeping could indicate warped clutch plates.

Most 200's that I have seen have an independent PTO clutch.
