A good example of the variations you will find in Allis tractors is the one just displayed for sale (ad #123305). I didn't call the owner but my bet is the tractor came from the factory just the way you see it in the picture. Disc wheels on the front and spokes on the back. I call that one a 1937 although a check of the serial number may indicate a late '36. Why?. The fan shroud on the upper front side. 1936 and previous did not have that. And, as far as I know, there were no '36's with disc wheels front or back. It's difficult to get people to believe that Allis made changes to their equipment that did not coincide with the year of the model. That was the era of the great depression. If Allis had some spoke wheels left over from the 1936 run, you can bet they continued putting them on '37's until they were used up. Purists seem to have a hard time understanding that.

Persian Orange #1 is the correct color for both Tractor and Wheel Rims. The painting of Tractors with Persian Orange started in 1929 when a Company called United ordered a quantity of model "U" Tractors painted in this color which became popular and thus became AC's Standard Color and in 1937 a WC could be had with Steel or Rubber Tires. If your Wheels show alteration such as Welding of Spokes to rims then it has been altered. Spokes which have been swedged into the Rim are standard. In 1937 AC did not offer Solid Wheel Centers as standard OEM or as an option for a WC.Solid Centers were available on the RC and The styled WC.

Well...Allis strikes again. My uncle bought a new 1937 WC that had disc wheels front and back and they were a dark blue, almost black, color. My dad had a 1936 WC that had spokes front and rear, also the dark color. Both of these tractors were factory new when purchased. The disc wheels on my uncle's '37 WC were different from the disc wheels used later on the styled WC's. They had a pretty good dish shape for widening the wheels out for cultivating.
