I have a 1954 Allis Chalmers WD45 with white rims. I thought they only had orange or orange and silver rims. Any thoughts on this?

They came from the factory with Persian Orange number one, tractor and front wheels, rear rims were silver. When some later D series came with cream wheel centers, some people matched that on their older tractors. Not factory correct, but eye appealing to many of us. They do look pretty snappy, but I would never do that to one of my own that I take to shows. I expect show tractors to be original paint schemes.

Paint it in what ever color makes your eyes at most ease. It is your tractor and your paint job. I hope no one will put you down for painting the wheels white or something like that. It is your tractor, think of it as your canvas on your easle. Have fun with it. While those "PERFECT" restorations look nice and all, don't think that yours has to look just like that. How boring would it be if all we ever saw any more were perfectly painted WDs and WD45s? One in her work clothes looks better to me. A nice coat of paint is important to have to keep rust away and thats about it. There are plenty of people out there painting their older allises Persian orange #2 instead of #1 because they like the brighter orange. That is just one example. Your tractor, have fun :).

WD45's came with orange wheel discs and silver rims on the back. Front wheels were all orange. The D17 series III had white wheels front and rear as did the D15, etc. It became popular to paint Allis wheels white and you see a lot of them but it is not the correct color for any WD. Persian orange is the right color. That was changed to a redder orange in later years and you'll see WD's painted that way too.
