Have an Allis "c" serial dates it 1947. Manuals address magneto only. This was one owner tractor with original everything. Was the distributor available in 1947 or is this a retrofit? Same with oil filter. It is a spin on not cartridge. All parts are original with no updates. Dist. was available in 1948 for sure. Does serial belie a mid production year change? Really appreciate the help as I am restoring to original as possible.

Ross, my Allis Chalmers B/C repair manual says there was a distributor ignition for the C. It gives some description for installation and setup. If you send me an email, I'll send you a copy - it is less than a page.

Regarding the spin on oil filter. All C's, WC's and RC came with a spin on oil filter. It is not exactly like the spin on for you car but it is similar. Fram 159 is a good replacement. Some replacements will cause a loss of oil pressure.
