need HELP TIMING 1940 c

I assume you replaced the large main cap and not just the small cap that covers the rotor. I also assume it's an FMJ mag. If you didn't remove the mag itself, you'll have to reinstall the main cap (cover) so the internal gears mesh in the proper position. If you removed the mag from the tractor, you'll also have to time it to the tractor as well as reinstalling the cap properly. You can find instructions for doing both in the first two links on my web page here. The instructions are for a B but a C should be indentical. You'll note that there are two different ways to time the mag to the engine. One uses the center mark and the other uses the fire mark. In other words, you can use either flywheel mark but must use the correct procedure that goes with it.
