D15 Series II Power Director oil stick?

I worked some in the ops manual learning about the new tractor santa brought me. I plan on getting all the small tune stuff done by spring and hook her to something for a little exercise.

Now mhy dilema. I am kinda looking for a bargain on the service manual on ebay but will probably cave in an just get one in about a month.

Here is the dilema. I kept wondering how to check the oil in the power director (think i got the name right) and it finally hit me that the dip stick has been broken off from the breather/fill nut. Now I wonder where it is. I think I will wind up getting in there to make sure it is not about to cause a commotion.

Would it be advisabele to go in there without the service manual. Possibly the whole assembly slides out the side?

I just gotta know that the dip stick is not in there somewhere.

You could try using a long mechanics magnet and see if you can fish it out.
If not, just take off the cover on the right side.
That will let you see inside. Plan on getting or making a new gasket. Don't forget to drain the oil first.

The PD assembly is removable only by splitting the tractor.
I&T's AC-201 is a good shop manual for the D15.
It shows the breakdown of the PD and describes the operation.

Thanks Gatz, I may get that manual instead of the service manual.

I will pull that cover if I cannot fish anything with the magnet.

It was probably thrown in the trash years ago, but you never know.
