Hello:

I just changed the oil(front) seal on my transmission on my 1951 model b.
I was wondering is there a vent on the trans, as I cannot see on. There is a plate with three screws on top of the transmission, is this a vent?
I ask as the seal I replaced was already out when I split the transmission from the torque tube, and I was wondering if venting mattered.
Any help is great
Thanks

the long plate with 3 screws holds the wire to the rearlights. Bob is right, breath around the shift lever.

That's a good point...and I've looked thru the owner's, service and shop manuals and can't find anything about tranny case ventilation. My 'B' is on holiday display in our church lobby...so I can't look for it until Sunday...

Many transmissions simply vent past the gear shift lever mechanism.
