D15 Series II or not?

I just got a TS500 TLB on what I am pretty sure is a D-15. It is missing it"s data tag. I want to get a manual for it. There are 2 - one for Series II D-15 and one for regular D-15"s. How can I tell the difference?

Bob, take another gander for those nimbers that JSM mentioned. They are not stamped in very deep and are at least 1/2 inch high/tall. If previous owners have applied liberal coats of orange they may be pretty well filled in.

Don't know if this will help, but on farm tractors, D Series, the tractor serial number is STAMPED on the left front corner of the torque tube- the casting the engine bolts on to. It begins with 'D'. Series II tractors started with serial number 13001, in 1963.

If it is a 1965 does that mean it would be a Series II? There are no casting numbers except a D6-U on the right side.

Do not confuse stamped and casting numbers. Casting numbers are used by the foundry to ID the part being poured. Serial numbers are stamped, because they are applied on the assembly line, when the tractor is put together. Series II were made from 1963-1968. Last one was 25419. (Farm tractors). Was no Series III.
