Ok folks, what is the real world experience with this? The WD is rated as 20HP at the drawbar. Specs for various implements put this in the Class I range and some say 20-45HP can be up to Class II. Not exceeding CAT I, would seem to limit a scape blade to 5ft and a box blade to 4ft. In the real world of pushing snow, gravel and dirt, are these good sizes, or can we go to CAT II and handle 6 ft box or scrape? Also, does anybody know the lift capacity for the stock hydraulics on the WD? I have the 3pt conversion in place of the snaplocks. Thanks.

Charlie,

I've hitched my heavy duty 5' Gill boxblade to my neighbor's WD and it lifts it with no problem, however the front end is very light and brakes had to be used for turns, expecially tight ones. His tractor had no front weights so obviously those would help the problem with a light front end. Power wise--no problem with the larger blades and larger than 5' box blade, but I would strongly advise getting some front weights...

I have a WD and WD45. They both have aftermarket 3 point hitches. I have had no problem pulling my 6ft. grader and 6ft. box with either one. The WD according to Nebraska test number 399 and 340 rates the regular WD at 30.23 hp on the drawbar and 34.63 hp on the PTO. Be sure to have fluid in the tires or weights on the back to eliminate tire spinning.

I use a 7 1/2 ft scraper blade and a 6 ft box blade on my WD, the tractor has plenty of power but with out the rear tires loaded traction is a problem. The hydraulics are ample to pick up most any implement.

I can chime in here. I have a WD. I use a 7' scraper blade that will turn completely around. I also have a 6' box scraper. I use the scraper to finish grade rock, scrape snow and level loose dirt. I use the box scraper to cut down the crown on my rock roads, move rock around, and grade unlevel dirt. I have a front loader for the WD and it will literally lift the rear wheels off of the ground when you hook something with the bucket. I have calcium cloride in the rear wheels. You will find the WD to be most acceptable for most anything you want to do with it. It is a very versatile unit and very strong.

If it were me, I'd get a 7 foot blade that can not only turn all the way around but also tilt to a couple different positions. I'd totally forget about a box blade. That`s my opinion, but others may have found a box blade good for something.

Neb test rate the WD as a 34 HP tractor. 6 or 7 foot blade or 6 foot box blade the WD will do well with. As far as lift it should be able to lift more then you would want to, as in lift the front end off the ground. The WD is a pretty good old tractor and will do a lot.
