I'm mainly a ford person.. but have refurbed an allis G... I'm looking for a spring project now.. and felt like another allis.. I want opinions on a good candidate.. something that will have good parts support.. whether used/new or aftermarket... perhaps something that had hi production numbers?

I know of a wd near me... comments? What ar ethe differences between a wd and a wc.

Is any model any more simple for a realitive 'newbie' to allis tractors?

Not a substantial difference between a WD and a WD-45. Cost to buy WD is less but it sells for less when done. The transmission is better on 45's but watch for bad gears on either. CA's, C's and B's are a grade above a toy but lots of people love them for finish mowing. The C is a little light for a 5' shredder but I've used mine for that. If it were my project, I'd go WD-45, WD, CA, C, B in that order. (I've either got or had all of these except the B - and I have a G).

Another AC?! Well, if so, a WD or WD45 would be a good project. They are plentiful and quite a bit less expensive than Fords of similar vintage and HP.

If you plan to use it either the WD or WD45 would be a much better choice than a WC as the WC has no hydraulic system and hand brakes. The WD/WD45s have live PTO/hydraulics by way of the hand/oil clutch.

I would look for a WD45 with a wide front and PS.

Sound I have a real good project tractor for you. Its a WD, can be had pretty cheap. Engine is out of it but here and ran when removed. No tires on the rear but other then those 2 things its complete.

Sounds like you are looking for a WC, WD, WD45 , C or B....all are really common AC tractors and lots of parts available. They are all nice tractors and good work horses.... On the down side they won't be worth much when you are done restoring them.

So you say they are worth 600-1200 unrestored.. and about 1500 restored.. not counting the 3 months of work and 2000$ in parts (GRIN).

I hear ya. I couldn't sell any of my tractors and hope to recoup what time and materialsI put in them.
