Well, I have the front left wheel off and it"s obvious the upper bearing is in need of replacement. The inner bearing (Timkin) looks good yet. I"m stumped as to where to get one of these roller bearings, and how to get it on. This one fell apart when I took it off the tractor. Next, there seems to be an old seal on the inner side of the spindle that was made out of some sort of fiber/string. It fell apart a long time ago, by the looks of it. How do I find a replacement and how do I go about doing it? I need to keep water out when I plow. Yet another question: the shaft that goes vertically down through the tube that the spindle attaches to is REALLY sloppy. How do I get it apart, and is there anything I can do to get the slop out? I took the set screw, like the one that holds the starter on, off, but I don"t see how it comes apart. Final question (for now): what"s the best grease to use when I put this all back together?

Thanks again for the help...I can really use it. I"m hoping to get this back together before another snowfall comes. We already have close to a foot on the ground.

Thanks!

Your front wheel bearing Timken numbers are: Inner cone 15118, cup 15250, outer cone 09074, cup 09196. Farmall A & B used the same bearings. The seal is a felt donut sandwiched between two flat washers. Dealers used to sell a kit #228459 (and possibly still do) which included both bearings and seal kit for one wheel. The seal alone is #207365. Compare this to a CR seal #596, possibly the same.

The spindle bushings are replaceable, axle uses 4 #205601 bushings.

To convert AC numbers to AGCO, prefix the above AC numbers with 70.

the guys have good recommendations for bearings and sleeves. you can also buy bearings at a local bearing house if you ccan get the nubers. the old leather seal can be upgraded to a new rubber part.--- you took off the set screw on the steering arm. arm slides over the 1-1/4 inch vertical shaft. soak the joint and beat the arm off the top of the shaft, it just slides on and setscrew in the side.

THanks for the info...where would the best place be to get one of the rubber seals? I don't have an AGCO dealer anywhere near here.

WE have a Motion INdustries bearing house in our area that i buy beaarings and seal. You can also go to NAPA auto parts and they can cross reference many bewarings and seals. You can take the seal with you and they can get the ID and OD and probably come up with a seal to fit. You can also buy on line from Flenties (AGCO) or others. I will send you an e-mail.

Seems to me that when I need parts for an AC tractor, I'd go to the dealer, and the next obvious thing would be to buy a parts manual to see how everything fits together. The service manual would explain how repairs are done. Since AC was bought out by AGCO, I would go to their dealer locator at www.agcocorp.com, and find out where I could buy the parts.

The slop in the steering spindles may be able to be corrected with new bushings if the spindle it self isn't too badly worn.
Check with Albert at Flenties (800)589-2426 or with Tony Carbaugh (tonystractors.com)he may be able to get you the bearings etc.
