What"s the best way to raise the front end of a B in order get the front wheels up high enough to service the bearings? Old and some other people were kind enough to point out that my bearing have water in them and are freezing when I plow, so I have to do a little service in there. Also, what"s the best way to go about cleaning and repacking bearings so this won"t happen again for a while?

Thanks again.

I just used a railroad jack, but you could put some blocks under a scissor jack. I did one side at a time, and put the jack just outside of the "A" member that"s welded to the axle. That way, it won"t slip out. As long as you are taking it apart, check the bearings good, and replace if necessary. By the way, I ordered the bearing kits from this site, and they are Chinese. You would get better bearings, and save money, by matching the Timco numbers, and going to a bearing supplier. ....Stan

Stan...was there any trick to doing this job? I"m looking at tearing into the wheels on Friday, but was wondering if there"s any trick to it at all. Thanks for the advice.

The inner races of the bearings are pressed on, so they don"t come off easy. I had to rig up a puller to get mine off. When I put the new ones on, I just tightened the nut down good to seat everything. Then I backed it off, and readjusted for no drag. While you have it apart, shake the spindle and see how much slop you have there. Mine were horrible, so I also put new bushings in the axle. Good luck....Stan
