Well I am to the point of taking off the Woods L59 belly mower that I have on my '39 B. I have completed the restoration of a sickle bar mower and I want to bolt it up and see what happens when I put power to it...

But my question is, Is there some easy way to get the belly mower out from under the tractor? When I put it on, two of us manhandled the main deck under there... Is there some magic driving pattern that allows me to drop the mower and then put away from it? I don't want to drive the tractor over the top of it and I would like to be able to do it by myself...

The sickle bar mower you can sort of jockey over the top of to bolt it up...

Thanks
Chris

I have a L59 on my 53 B. Mine has the adjustable front axle, and front wheels are set in fairly close. I put a 2x4 on the outside of the belt guards and some blocking in front to help the wheels to start up on the mower, and then just back the tractor over the mower. I have been doing this for 4 or 5 years and have had no problems so far.

No magic, choices are drive over, man-handle or overhead crane.

I'd say that pretty much covers it, except for Osmosis. Aint that where you see a pretty woman and wish her to turn around and at least wink at you, and she does? Guess I aint mastered it yet though, but not for lack of effort.

I just lay a 4X4 down in front of mine and back over it the mower is strong enought that you will not damage it. Leave the belt guards on & miss the guage casters. Ive been putting my L306 (the 6 foot version of the L-59) on & off for 10 years this way.

Well I ended up looking at it and I didn't want to drive over the guards on the pulleys... Thus I got it on a smooth concrete floor and managed to skid it out from under it with out too much of a problem.... I was able to do it by myself...

Thanks
Chris
