WD carb, M-S, cracked.

I have been working on a WD for about a month now. My first task was to clean the carb which was real gunked up. I was pretty confident of my rebuild efforts, although I hadn't been bragging or anything. Now that I am getting around to starting it, I am coming back to the carb. The fuel inlet had been cracked. I had left the fix, looks like seal-all, but when I connected the fuel line it was loose. I separated two broken pieces from the threaded inlet and peeled off the seal-all. I replaced the fix with JB Weld. It didn't come out as pretty as the seal-all. I let it set-up better than the instructions, but it leaks. Now I am scraping off the JB Weld and I have a new tube of seal-all. I am wondering if there was a way to solder this cast piece short of brazing it because I would like to affect a permanent repair. Appreciate all responses.

i do tractor repair for a living and i just brazed the same spot last week on a carburetor. brazing is the only reliable repair ive found that doesnt leak and you need to "V" the crack out to have success in this repair. the only other way is to find a junk carb and rob the upper half.
