Hydraulic pump for 1948 B Allis

Help! The pump will lift on its own but jerky.
It will not lift any weight.

Any suggest what we could do to fix this problem
would be appreciated.

A good possibility is that one of the pistons is not functioning because it's ball valve is leaky. That makes you get a real uneven lift. Get the manual first and it gives a good description of how to take it apart. The two screw caps can be removed and you can access the spring and seats. You may find either foreign material in one, a deformed seat or even that one of the springs is completely toast. The problem will probably be pretty evident when you pull it. You can manually operate the pistons dropping the pickup into a little sump. One will be simply not work and that will be the one that you have to check out.
