SOMEONE FROM THIS FORUM SENT THAT I COULD GET THE SMALL DRIVE FOR THE END OF MY TACH CABLE ON MY D17 AT AGCO. MY CLOSEST DEALER (WHICH IS OVER AN HOUR AWAY) CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I NEED.
HE WANTS $40 TO ORDER ONE AND I DON'T THINK ITS THE CORRECT PIECE. I JUST NEED THE PIECE THAT THE CABLE SLIPS INTO AT THE DISTRIBUTER. MY DRIVE PART THAT SLIPS INTO A GROOVE ON THE DISTRIBUTER IS GOOD SO I ONLY NEED THE PART THAT SLIDES INTO IT AND THE CABLE SLIDES INTO THAT . I WOULD CALL ANOTHER AGCO IF I KNEW WHERE ONE WAS AND HAVE THEM MAIL IT. NAPA WAS NO HELP. THANKS JIM

AGCO PART NUMBER 234221 IS THE ADAPTER NUMBER IF ITS AN OLDER TRACTOR. CALL ORMSBEE IMPLEMENT AT 231-238-9928 AND TALK TO STAN. THEY ARE MY LOCAL AGCO DEALER AND I HAVE ADVISED HIM OF YOUR PROBLEM AND TOLD HIM YOU MIGHT BE CALLING. HAVE YOUR TRACTOR SERIAL NUMBER BECAUSE THEY MADE 2 DIFFERENT DRIVES AND YOU MAY NEED A DIFFERENT DRIVE.

I WAS THE ONE THAT REPLYED TO YOU JIM. WHEN I REDID MY D14, THE TACH WOULD NOT WORK. I LOOKED AT THE PARTS BREAKDOWN AND THERE IS A SMALL PLASTIC PIECE THAT FITS INTO THE ADAPTER IN THE DISTRIBUTOR. YOUR TACH CABLE FITS INTO THIS PPLASTIC PIECE. I AM ASSUMING THAT D14 AND D17 ARE THE SAME

I tried buying just the inner flexible cable for the tach on a D17diesel.
AGCO dealer couldn't supply just that part; they only sold it as a new assembly. Seems it was around $48.
Ended up buying a cable kit from NAPA and it worked fine.
Not sure if the end piece for a gas and a diesel are the same or not, but NAPA had various ends that you could get with the kit. Might take a look if they're local.

Also check at a heavy truck (semi) dealership. They have ends like that for use with truck speedo and tach cables.
