how do you tell if the trans is a over drive or under drive am looking for the under drive any one have one Thanks Merle

If the tran.s is in your hands, look at the counter (bottom) shaft, it will have two gears on it. if the big gear is in the rear, it's an overdrive, big gear in front, underdrive. Don

I could be wrong, but the biggest percent were the step down. I was told that with a mounted picker it almost became a necessity in the hills when the corn yields improved over the years. I do think most folks regard the upward position as a step up. If I recall---(35 plus years) it simply was the standard gear ratio. The center position was nuteral so you could lift the cultivator with the mechanical power lift while completly stopped. I recal the step down being pretty important with the old mechanical loader as well. Dave NE IA
