AC HD6 series E

Hi I am looking at purchacing an HD6 series E. The dozer runs fine for around half an hour and then looses steering and drives straight ahead. If left to cool it drives ok. the owner seems to think it's the pinion bearings. Any other idea's? Also, does anyone know the year of the series E?

is this dozer located in tasmania? Does the brake peddle move in and out (If you leave your foot on it,ie ride the brake while the machine is moving)if so the bearings are worn brake drums/clutch packs are moving about

I beleive they are in oil but will know more when I take delivery of the machine. Do you have wet clutch parts?

a friend of mine enquired about this machine but is a bit of a gamble depending on how much this machine has been used since this would have happened slowly chances are metal filings have traveled through rest of rear end wich will be expensive only way to tell for sure would be removing steering clutch covers and inspect i have an hd 11 thats doing the same thing !!

I hope your wrong about the entire rear end being sus because I have now bought the machine. Everything sounds and runs good in the back and the machine has been babied. If I was to engage both steering clutches at the time of steering loss, and the machine stopped, would this prove absolutely that the crown shaft bearings were the cause? Thanks for your help on this matter!

HI If your hd11 have the same probleme and if he has a oil stering cluch you should check under the floor the strener should be block. HECTOR
