Did AC make a Model B with a narrow front end? If so what years? Sorry for all this simple ?, but i just purchased a pair of ACs an these models are new to me. Are they a good dependable running tractor. I got a great deal on pair of them.

Lots of parts interchange between B and C. Look close at pictures on this website and you will notice the C is wider for two rows between the rear tires rather than to go over a single row as the B was intended. Not to say that someone could not part things together. If you find a picture of the steering linkage you will see that C had a different setup better suited for the narrow front. The serial number on trasmission should start with C if it was C and likewise a B for B's. Mine is so worn it is hard to make out the B.

They are as dependable as the quality of maintenance done on them. If they have light weight battery cables they will not start well. If the fuel system in not clean they will always spit, sputter, and stop. Same as any other tractor or auto. Other than these remarks you have two fine tractors that will give you many years of enjoyment. Have fun with them and stop in often.

No. Allis Chalmers used the 6 volt systems along with most other tractor manufactures thru most of the 1950"s. As stated above if properly maintained the 6 volt will work as well as it did when the tractor was new.
A lot of people will go to the 12 volt system which is fine. I use 12 volt on the tractors that I have made the engines high compression engines. 12 volts sent to a 6 volt starter does give it more torque.

The B only came with a wide front. The C is the NF version of the B. That being said, the parts will interchange, and it is possible to mix and match.
