Was anxious to talk about my new baby, a D-15 which seems real solid and runs out well. Havn't hooked it to a tree yet though.

Anyhow, I am in the process of getting some books, cus I don't know anything, well maybe a little about it since I got it home and nestled in the barn with its green buddy.

It has a generator on it and a 12 volt battery in the box, but the system is doing nothing. Did it come out with 6 or 12 and what post was ground. It is a 63 model

Next time I will attempt to post something that is not in the book I will have by then.

Thanx

All D15's were 12 volt.

Thanks folks, I will pull that test on the gen today.

I did spend a bunch of time in the archives last night and got some good stuff. However I did not find the simple 6 or 12 answer.

Anyway, Is there a way to block and print the selection on this board? I can't get it to work for me. If so, I could print out the posts and put them in my file in the barn.

I looked at site comments and there was a bug last night and this morning. Couldn't drag across the text, just showed the hand cursor. It's fixed now, I just tried it.

mark the A and F wires on the generator and remove them. ground the F with a seperate jumper wire. start the motor and measure the voltage across the A and F terminals with a volt meter. you should get 25-30 volts on a 12 volt generator. if you do get voltage, then the voltage regulator under the gas tank is your problme.

Congratulations. I have a D-14 and always wished I had its slightly more powerful younger brother to sit alongside it! The parts service and owners manuals are all sold on this site up on the manual link at the top of this page. It's a 12 volt negative system. I've read some really good posts since coming here on checking out a generator system. Try searching the AC archive for field, generator and you should get a day's worth of reading. Don't buy any expensive parts till you test it all out. There was an article on shunt generaters in the archive I think called two brush generators that helps.

Since you said it was a 63, I'm guessing you have a Series II.
