That is astounding. That is a pig in a poke. Wonder the motivation? I once read a letter from a Minneapolis Moline owner who had bought a G1000 and restored it. He, to this day, he is the only person I've ever seen who actually did restore a tractor. In addition to rebuilding the engine, he replaced every gear, bushing, bearing and seal in the whole tractor. He put on new tires and tubes, all new sheet metal, new steering wheel, new foot pedals, new radiator, new wiring, new starter, new generator, new regulator, new brakes, new gauges and a new drawbar. He claimed he spent $24,000 in this restoration. That amount seems about right. But why would he do this? He would be lucky to ever recover half of his investment. And a much less extensive rebuild would be worth as much. There is no accounting for it. In your story, two people had to think that it was worth $1600 - that is unless there was a fake bidder in the audience. Thanks for the story!
