I just purchased a 1939 B and I am trying to restore it. Tried to pull the oil pan off, will someone please tell me an easier way to do it rather than pull the front end off if possible??

Just wanted to let you all know that your ideas worked about jacking up the left front. It took a little coaxing, but if finally came, not sure if I"ll be able to get it back in or not, but thanks for the info.

Try jacking up the left side of the front end to the stop (the bolt under the radiator cowl). Rotate the engine until the #1 crank throw is horizontal (the crank claw on the front of the engine should be up/down). Then unbolt the pan, it should slip down and out to the side. The key is getting the fron crank throw out of the way. you may need to fuss with it a bit to get the exzct position needed.

It's actually easy to pull the front end. 2 pins and 1 big nut, put the floor jack and SOLID extender under the toque tube flange at the radius rod mount, LOCK THE BRAKES and block the rear wheels. Take the load off the front end but don't put it up in the air, have someone turn the steering while you wiggle it forward and it will slide right out. If you don't need to haul it away you can leave the steering attached!

(BTW, just swapped front ends on mine, so real familiar with this)

I don't remember how to do it but I know it can be done. I rebuilt the engine on a B we had but that was a few decades ago so I don't remember how I did it but I know I didn't pull the front end off.

My memory is the same as olds. I thought I conquered that one way back without having to take the tie rod off. I think that is what I did the first time. The whole front end doesn't have to come off in fact I think I just dropped one side down. If they are spinning it might be easier to pull it off the spindle.
