Kent, Im not quite sure what your thoughts or intentions would be regarding an electronic switch (to replace mechanical points) for a MAGNETO Ignition?? As Im sure you know, the elec switch is more useful for battery powered external coil distributor ignitions. An elec switch requires voltage to power up the electronics, so it dont sound practical for a straight non electric hand start mag ignition tractor. The mags have internal coils which are energized by the rotating magnet inside them versus a battery powering them, so I dont see near as much of an advantage of an elec switch on them (if one was rigged up with battery power to operate it) as the battery powered coil ignition where you can use a high voltage high energy coil and pump more current through it, since the elec switch can handle more plus switch it faster, and discharge more energy across a wider plug gap. I guess Im unsure of what n how yu propose to use an elec switch for mag tractors??? An elec switch is definitely superior over mechanical bouncing burning points as a current switch, but tying it with a magneto dont sound as practical to me. However, if your just using the mags points to switch current for a jury rigged battery powered coil ignition, then I see an interest in using an elec switch, but thats sort of a jury rigged modification in the first place. Im not intending to shoot down what may be a great idea, I just dont understand your intentions and what you have in mind?? and am merely tossing out some feedback Lemme know, Best wishes n God Bless John T
