I had a 39 (probably) and it did but that doesn't prove anything because we had to date it based on the engine and that just as easily could have been wrong. The transmission case was replaced and not restamped. The starter was for sure available on a 40. The C also had lights/starter when it came out in 40.

Do you think the C was ever offered without a starter? I always wondered that. The part manual says so but I've never seen one crank only.

I have a C with the factory plug still in the starter hole and the factory insert still in the tool box area that is cutout for the battery. No generator, lights or wiring harness.

I think you've got one amazing C. I wouldn't let go of that for anything. Single tricycle and no electrics. Have you ever thought that you may have the only one left. I've never seen one.

Thanks, I've had 2 Cs 5 Bs and an IB and really loved them. I had to part with most but the unusual ones are the ones that stick in your memory. Your C must fall into that category. On the first C I restored, I even had the 2-way up and down plows, and actually used them to do the garden one year instead of my dual 16s on the D-14.

This one has a single front wheel and also has the heavy cast rear wheel centers that have the 4 cut-outs so it originally had rear steel!
