good restoration books for Allis

I have collected the basic service and operators manuals for my 1951 B. Neither has a lot of detail for the 'heavy' repairs.

Someone said in a post that a real Allis parts book is useful. Any other suggested references?

This forum is good but you guys will tire of my endless stream of idiot questions real fast.

By the way. My 1951 B seems faster than I expected in road gear. Did the later models actually top 10 mph? I felt like I should have goggles and a leather helment today on the road.

A few clunks still on my right hub on accel/ decel, I think the spline is shot. More fun. I got the rim tight thanks to good suggestions, I ended up using sheet aluminum shims cause it was quick. They are snug. I will likely pull rims and do some painting anyways.

Guy Fay's book - "Original Allis-Chalmers 1933-1957" is the best I've found so far for the allis's. This is not a how to repair manual but what was supposed to be on it when new book.

If the service manual you have is the ITT manual, well try and get a reprint or original of the AC repair manual, it will tell you a lot more. A parts manual is usefull, even if you don't use it to order parts, it will tell you the order things go in, what they look like, etc.

I've got reprints of the Allis manuals but the service manual especially leaves a lot to the imagination. Seems like maybe it was a supplement to a general Allis shop book.

My father in law restores Model T and A Fords. Seems like they wrote a library on those. Of course they built em by the millions instead of by thousands.
