Anyone mount a snowplow blade to an AC G?

Has anyone used a model G to plow snow? What type of blade did you use, how did you mount it, does it pivot side to side? Is there a kit available out there somewhere? I'm wondering how feasible this idea is, or should I just go and buy a small self propelled snowblower.

I bought a G that came with a snow plow. I bought it over the phone and the fella said it was bought from an Allis dealer. When I picked every thing up I see it was home made or at least not made by a production factory. I have not seen on made by Allis Chalmers so could not say the one I have was a copy. But I know that I would rather scoop out my 100 yard drive with a scoop shovel than mess around mounting it. This one mounts the push point on the bellhousing casting with the blade out in front. It would lift with the same set up you would lift the plow with.

AC made a snow plow for the G, A friend has one, but it seems to me a big pain to mount. I build one from a wheel horse plow. If I remember correctly I use only the rear drawbar, and the wedges up front. I can mount or dismount it in 2 min. or less. A G can never have any pressure other than ---down---on those drawbar supports, as they will bust out of the engine block. I have a clevis on the drawbar so no one will forget and hook a chain to the supports. Now back to the pushing snow, well we are always impressed at how much any machine can push a powdered snow, and the G is no exception. Chains are a must, I can swing my blade by pulling a rope, and pushing into the snow pile with the edge I want to swing backwards. The G is a little light in the front for pushing real deep snow with the blade angled, but does preety good overall, probably up to a foot of snowfall. Dave NE IA

Any chances of getting some photos of your setup (or ideas where to find photos of the AC plow)? Otherwise I"d have to reinvent the wheel - and I probably wouldn"t be done until Spring.

Funny you should mention reinventing, as that is my case with my camera since it crashed. I have a few friends that are sure they can fix the problem, but we both may see the snow melt first at this rate. I will see what I can do, but it seems pretty unstable at this point. Lets see what else surfaces on this site and go from there. I can't see why almost any blade that is wide enough after swinging could be used. I would probably avoid a real heavy blade for starters. As far as the snow blower I have 6 different ones, and lets get real, Chicks don't dig snow blower and besides -- they are made for blowing snow only, not showing off as us big boys with toys realy want to do.
