Tractor is a tricycle gear, runs good, needs clutch. Model/serial # is CA2914, think it is a 1951. Can anyone give me some basics (engine size, hp, accessories, etc.) and advise on how difficult the clutch job may be? Thanks for any help.

It was a 125 CID, with 25 belt, 18 at the drawbar.

I don't know on the accessories except if you can find snap-
coupler, it will pull a two bottom plow, 7 foot disc and of course if you mount a 3-point, virtually anything. It had the WD hydraulic pump so it can lift more than it should ;-).

Clutch job means splitting which does take a lot of care. I'd raise the front, remove the sheet metal, drag link, radiator. You pull the front wheels and radiator support together with hoist. Remove the engine gas line, wires and linkage and slip it out the front with a hoist. The clutch will be easy to get to then. You'll want to set it on the ground of course to break the bolts loose. Throw out and actuator arm will stay with the tractor. Normally with the B or C, they can get unstable when you pull the front off but the CA has a nice healthy amount of weight to hold the rear end on the ground where it belongs while you are pulling it loose (especially if the tires are filled).

Actually it's a joy to work on.

Thanks! Excellent information...more than I hoped for. It does have rear wheel weights which should help. It has a turning plow, 2 row corn planter, and a set of "stirrers" (subsoilers?). Should be fun.

Make sure you have the right clutch. It could be the rear clutch slipping.

Didn't know there were two (don't have manuals yet). Where is the rear clutch? Symptom is that it slips under a heavy load...pulls fine under light or no load.

REAR CLUTCH IS IN THE RIGHT AXLE. SHOULD BE A HOLE IN THE HOUSING AND A LEVER ATTACHED TO IT. THIS IS A SPRING LOADED HAND CLUTCH. PULL TO DISENGAGE AND RELEASE TO ENGAGE. IF YOU ENGAGE THE PTO AND PULL A HEAVY LOAD, THE PTO WILL TURN WHILE THE TRACTOR STOPS IF IT IS THE HAND CLUTCH.
IF BOTH THE TRACTOR AND THE PTO STOP THEN IT IS THE FOOT CLUTCH AND YOU WILL HAVE TO SPLIT THE TRACTOR TO REPLACE. BOB

Good call, forgot all about that one ;-). I'd rather pull the engine than the final personally.

I'll try the test and go from there. Thanks for the thorough information.
