Duals on a model C ?

Has anyone ever seen dual rears on a model C? If so does anyone know how this is done or if it is a kit? Does anyone have a link to a picture of one? I realy like the looks of them I was going to do this to the C I just bought and put turf tires on them since it will just see grass sutting duty. Thanks

I wonder if you could take 2 wheel centers and mount them opposite using longer lug bolts?

I have a doxen or so C wheel centers. I will hold one up and see what it looks like. The bolts would carry the weight rather than the axle flange but that should not be a problem with that small of a tractor. When you drive over a stone or something with a spacer ring the lift on that side of the tractor is still on the axle flange. The bolts just hold the wheel solid to the axle. With two wheel centers bolted togather the lift would be on the bolts. Like I stated that should not be a problem on a light tractor. I have a spacer on my 9523 to keep the tire chains from slapping the fenders and I used it with a loader for several years and the bolts had to take the weight. I broke two bellhousings but never a wheel bolt.

There are also 4 holes right outside the hub....maybe just bolt another hub on there with some pipe spacers long enough to clear the lug bolt heads.

Let me know what that looks like and what your opinion is once you have lokkded at the centers back-to-back. I appreciate everones help on this. Using duals will help on the pressure applied to the ground. The lawn may look a little nicer with the duals on...I'm thinking (as far as the rear goes) it would lessen the weight or psi applied to the lawn by the tractor. Plus it would look cool.

There has been pictures of a B on one of the Allis Chalmers sites, not sure which one, with duals.
It would not be hard to do. You would need a set of 24" rims. You would then take them to a fabrication/ welding shop that could roll a spacer ring to keep the tires from touching each other. You would have to add some type of turnbuckle or fastening devise to hold the outside wheel tight to the inside wheel. Just look a larger tractor with duals and you would get the idea. I have one tractor with a threaded devise and the other has snap over tightener much like a log binder or chain binder. Threaded rod could be fashioned to work. Each one of mine has four tighteners per wheel. I have seen tractors with six per wheel.

thanks for the info, it does not sound that hard. I think I am going to do something like this. It realy serves no pirpose for me other than looks since all that I'm doing with the C is mowing. I think I'll put them on her and call her the "little orange giant".

When I was draging with my one B. I didn"t have a problem pulling the big drag as far as HP but it does a lot of spinning and jumping in second gear.

Do you have any weight on the rear of the tractor? I have experienced a few such tractors and they have had to have loaded tires to get the power to the ground. Of course wheel weights would work too. With two or three hundred lbs on each wheel it will act a lot different, maybe better than duals too.

Well I think your problem would go away if you put several hundred lbs. on or in each wheel. And the tractor won't be so wide. I like a fairly wide tractro for stability,but duals might over do it. Set the rims out on the wheel a bit. Load the tires, or put a few weights on each side. Or both.

Thanks for the pictures Jerry. I do not have power adj rims but I think I have gotten some pretty good ideas here. Adding weight is not realy an option, this tractor is used for wowing my 4+ acre lawn and barn lot I dont want the extra weight to make sink marks or ruts in the yard. I Just got it home yesterday. I was like a boy on christmas morning! Grining from ear to ear. It was great. The little c is so much easier to stear than my 8N it was a pleasure to drive. The deck cut realy good and even. My riding lawn mower was wearing a big frown. I think it realized that its life will probably be spent in the back of the Morton building now that I have the C. Sorry for the long post.
Thanks for all the posts and ideas on the duals.
