Have had trouble with the tractor just dying in the field. Traced the problem to the fitting on top of the fuel pump. It seems to work as a relief valve for the pump when the pump produces too much fuel the excess is supposed to get through the fitting and then back to the tank. When the fuel can't get out it just kills the tractor. Anyone have a similar situation and what did you do to correct it. Somebody said just take the fitting out but I think it needs to be there so the extra fuel from the injectors does not come back into the pump.

Paul,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are probably looking at a pump rebuild. There is a cam ring retainer in the pump. On older pumps it was made of plastic or some sort of composite material. After so long it starts to disintigrate and the little pieces plug the small orfice in the restrictor. The cam ring retainer will continue to deteriorate until the pump will no longer function.

I had the same thing, I think it is a check valve in case of a roll over. I took the little ball out , and it has been good for the last 10 years, Mine was on a AC 185. Kim
