I was warned that my Allis B does not have enough antifreeze for winter. My books have not arrived yet. What is the coolant capacity for the B system? I will probably drain and add fresh 50/50. Not sure if I trust any of my antifreeze detectors anymore.

It is 6volt original system. If I get in a pinch can I jump with a 12volt battery? I don't want to fry anything.

Why not just hand crank it..?? The AC "B" is not hard to crank...

All you need is to be aware of a few important safety tips... I hand crank my AC WD-45 with a power kit with no problem... Just be sure to only try to turn them 1/4 turn at a time, use one hand and never wrap your thumb around the handle.. Always have your weight moving AWAY from the crank, as you pull it through...

I don't even have the crank. It ain't on the fender like a WD. Where did they keep em?

Yes you can jump start it with 12 volts but go directly to the starter not the battery, hooking it right up to the battery came cause the 6 volt battery to explode. My books says the cooling system holds 2 gal.

Sorry, Old. I need to see if I understand.

Do you mean... I need to bypass the starter switch on the B and hook the negative from my 12volt booster pack direct to the starter winding terminal? Then touch the positive to some place on the block to start cranking? Of course doing all this while I have the choke pull and throttle lever in my 'remaining' two hands. Sounds complicated.

I really want to get it right cause I know I will have to do this at the worst time someday.

Yep you have the idea right, its sort of like takeing the 6 volt battery out of the starter system and all it does it power the dist.

the 12 volts dont hurt the starter. just be carefull of the old battery as old says. you might plan on taking the old battery out and installing a new 12 volt battery. your old generator will trickle charge it, but you might want a better alternaor/ generator sometime.
