Attaching 7' AC mtd disc to Wd45

I am looking at a disc that will be sold on auction saturday. It is a "7' AC Mtd disc". It has a quick-hitch draw bar with a depth adjustment crank with it. No lift bars. There is a small chain with a bracket there also. The problem is that nothing is attached to the angle iron frame of the disc to hook it to the drawbar.

I have my grandpa's WD45 tractor, with no attachments, so I need a photo or detailed description to determine if I can make this disc connect to my tractor, either with the parts present, or by buying or making some attachment pieces.

It is possible that you have a pre-snap coupler disk. The implements for the early WD's used a horizontal pin to attach implements, instead of a snap coupler. The lift arms just had a bolt hole at the end, and the attachment (at least on a plow) was a kind of sleeve that fit over the arm and had a setscrew that you tightened on the arm.

I have a snap-coupler disk model 109, which has the Snap Coupler eye on the 'drawbar', and chains that attach to the tractor lift arms. This disk has a 'beaming' crank on it to level it.

Thanks. I just acquired a photo and manual of a "CA" Mounted Disc Harrow. It is the older model you describe with the horizontal pin and curved hitch arm.

Based on your comments and pictures of mannuals on ebay, I think the disc I am looking at on auction is probably a model 100/109.

I am going to try to get a drawing or photo before Saturday to figure out which parts are missing.

The snap coupler disks that I know of do just use chains from the frame of the disk to the lift arm latches, so this sounds like a typical AC disk. Make sure the bearings on the disk are good they are very expensive and kind of hard to find.

Thanks. How does the drawbar attach to the frame of the mounted disc? The drawbar that is with this disc has large holes, probably 1" or larger, on the end of the "arms".

I'm not sure I am following. If it is a snap coupler disk, that hasn't been modified in some way, it has a tongue with a oval hole close to the size of a small egg in the end. That is the snap coupler hitch that slides into the snap coupler bell under the tractor once the draw bar assembly has been removed from the tractor. The tractor draw bar attaches to the tractor via the snap coupler bell and then has a large U shaped support that is pinned on each side to a draw bar support bracket. Pull the pins, open the snap coupler and the draw bar is off the tractor. Back up to a snap coupler implement, and the implement tongue goes into the snap coupler bell and catches. Then on the disk, hook the chain on each side of the disk frame to the lift arm latches, raise the implement and away you go. The chains should have a bracket that just fits into the hooks of the lift arm latches and then the top of the latch snaps down over that to keep it in place. I've seen disk where there wasn't a bracket anymore and the person just bolted the chain directly to the hole in the lift arms. Hope this helps.

Thanks again. The issue I have is that the snap coupler hitch is no longer attached to the disk. Some parts appear to be missing, so I'm not sure if a simple attachment can be made out of angle iron, or if it takes something more "factory". Either way, until I can come up with a drawing or photo, I'm afraid that I'll have a disk and a hitch that are in two pieces, instead of all together.

Hopefully I'm not missing something obvious here, but I think that the snap coupler hitch is supposed to be a part of the disk. Right now, there is no way for the hitch to connect to the angle iron frame of the disk.

Go to the "Help Identify" Forum and Scroll back two Pages to where "Frank" has posted a Picture of a two bottom AC Plow which has a "Snap Coupler Hitch" attached for a Visual of what one looks like. Good Luck and Go slow as a 7' Mtd. Disc is no challenge for a WD45.
