I'm looking for a pair of bolts that hold the nose-cone on my HD6. I'm trying to get the radiator out and it seems to be a miserable job. I've pulled the bottom pan off and front grille, but it appears the front "nose" must come off. The blade cylinders also attach to it. Now, my problem is the lowest and most forward bolt on each side. Large bolts that take a 3/4" internal square-drive. First, I can't get them to budge, even with a 3/4" drive breaker-bar and four foot pipe extension. Also, they both have nuts on the inside where I've yet to find a good way to hold. Maybe a 12 point crowfoot wrench around 2 1/4" or 2 3/8" ?? My HD6 service manual is useless - it simply states that, if the nose piece gets in my way, "take it off." Anyway, I'm about to use my torch and cut the bolt heads off. So, I'd like to find two replacement bolts.

I've got an HD7G for pieces for my HD6. The nose was off it when I got it but there's a bucket of bolts that came with. I'll look thru it tomorrow.Let ya Know. Tim

I had the same problem. I Very carefully cut the bolts, be careful as there are two halfcircle washers under the nuts. They are harder to find than the bolts. I found the bolts at Clap Bros in Westfield Ill, ask for Doc. They part out AC heavy equipt. Cleanist salvage yard I have seen in my 56 years. sorry I don't have a phone number.

I have a parts manual for that machine if you need original part numbers but I guess it would be a long shot if the AGCO dealer actually would stock or be able to order those.

The sketches in the parts manual show a sheet metal retainer plate that goes over (and would lock) the square nut from backing out. Do you see this plate on each side over the nut? There's also a lower plate that bolts to the radiator guard. If you could remove that plate then access to the side bolts would be easier.

I've got an HD6 parts book laying around somewhere, but I suspect it won't help. I wouldn't be surprised if the local dealer wanted $50-$75 each for used bolts (if he had them). Last time I was stuck for a part it was the pivot-pin that holds the trackframe crossarm in. The AGCO dealer had a new one and a used one - part # 050452. $382 for new and $90 for used. I bought the used one, but that's a lot of money for a plain, straight, steel pin - basically just a big clevis pin. My bolts might be different because of the dozer setup (Garwood, I believe), or maybe not. My machine does not have any lockplates that I can see - at least not functioning, and the nuts on the inside are hex, not square and take a 2 1/4" wrench. I can just barely get a crowfoot on one side, but not the other. Maybe at one time it DID have locked four-sided nuts on the inside, that would make much more sense and enable taking this thing apart without a torch. I see NO good way to access them as there is too much stuff in the way - e.g. the hydraulic pump and lines, front bumber that bolts to the frame, radiator (which is WHAT I'm trying to remove), nose, etc. The big nut I can't reach appears to have chisel marks all over it. Perhaps that's how the last person that worked on it got it tight. If I DO torch it apart, I'll inspect it more closely. Seems I going to have to come up with some sort of inside lock in order to prevent all this from happening again.

HI I am not sure if I have some again I check this afternoun and combac to you lather. I AM NOT SURE BUT IF YOU TAKE OFF EACH SIDE THE TWO BOLTS 3/4 AND PULL THE GARD ASSEMBLY BY THE TOP ON THE FRONT BLADE SIDE AND THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU LOOSE IN THE BIG BOLTS.HECTOR
