The large lever to the right of the steering wheel on a 53-what is it for? The current owner is unsure as am I. I would like to know before i purchase this tractor. It seems to me it may be related to hydraulics as this model has a loader. In order to raise the three point hitch you have to lift the loader all the way up or remove it and disconect the hydraulics. Any input would certainly be apreciated.
Thanks

I'm curious why the current owner does not know what it is for. It's a major feature of that tractor, if it is indeed the hand clutch. Might be a bargaining feature- if he knows so little about what that 'lever' is for- how much does he really know about the rest of the tractor? Or is it something he bought cheap, knows nothing about, and wants to pawn it off on someone else who he thinks knows even less? Sounds like a tractor that a knowledgeable person should check out before you buy it.

I believe you are referring to the hand clutch which permits live hydraulics and live PTO.

Your tractor can be plumbed with a three way valve into the lines which will allow the loader to be lifted to a appropriate height. Then you switch the valve and the valve holds the loader in that position and the controls then work the three point. You can't do both at once, but you won't have to remove the loader to use the three point.

You need to talk to John T. He's dealing with nearly the same issue.
