Block Heater Installation?

Hi I have a WD45. This will be my first winter with it. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and was contemplating purchasing a block heater for cold starting. Some people have suggested to me that installing them in a freeze plug is better than the lower radiator hose. I see on the site here that they offer the radiator hose model. To be honest, I haven't time to see if the freeze plug model would be easy or difficult for installation. Any opinions?

I just took a block heater off dads D17 series4
it had a tee fitting in the small hose in the top of the water pump and had a 1/4" pipe threaded in block just in front of caburator
in central ILL we have never had a starting problem with the 17 a couple of our red tractors
could probably use block heaters that's why the 17 is our chore tractor
