Thank You gatz for the information. I found a number where you said it would be, but does this sound correct 704052? If not how many digits does a s/n have?

I think you missed the "1" in front of the number. This would make it 170 4052 which would be a valid number. AC put the model number or letter right before the serial number.

Looks like you have one extra digit

The "One Seventy" S/N's were
1005 to 7384 (from 1967-1971)

for the "170", S/Ns were

7500 to 10,300 (from 1971-1973)

You can also check S/Ns by clicking on the link to the left of this site under "Research & Info"
subheading: SerialNumbers, then got to Allis Chalmers and Click on 170
