Hi All, My Dad bought a Allis WD and was in need of a front rim but we have been told that a 5 hole rim is rare and the 6 hole rim is the norm.
My question is which is right? just wondering what is right for the tractor as I have found a rim for the tractor but keep getting told it should be a 6 hole.

It's interesting that AC did use a 16" 6 hole by 51/2 pattern disc wheel on WCs starting in late 1936 through 1937 when they first switched from the 17" hub-mount spoke front wheels. By late 1937 the 16" 5 hole by 51/2 pattern became the standard that was used on the last unstyled WCs, all WDs, 45s, and the early D series tractors, before the 6 hole wheels once again became the standard that still exists today.

full size ford truck take a 5 1/2 center wheel, from 1980 to i'd say 1996, to be safe. if in a pimch a local junk yard mith have some wheels to get by.

6 hole is the norm, now. not in the 50's.5hole on 5.5" center for your wd

I have 2 wc, 1 wd, 1wd45, all have 5 bolt wheels cant see how 6 bolt would fit I have just bought a new wheel for wd45 cost 42.00 at local parts store, hope this helps.

Unfortunately your expert is wrong! The WD and WD-45 both use a five hole rim. The rim from a WC, WF, D-17, D-14, D-15 will also work for you.

Your expert is way off base. If the hub is a 5 bolt hub (standard), it is impossible to put a 6 hole rim on it unless you restamp the rim and drill and mill 4 or 5 new holes.

If you have a 5 hole Allis rim, you're cool. However, all five hole rims are not the same. I don't know what other tractors or cars use the same bolt center diameter. Safest way is to get one from a WD, WD-45 ... Allis Chalmers tractor.

I think the rims I have from a WD are 5 bolt but with out going out and looking I'm not for sure on that. I have a pair of rims from a WD I'd sell and they have good tires on them to boot

my series 1 d17 has 5 hole front wheels...not sure if it came that way or not but at one time it needed a front wheel and a ford 1/2 ton pickup wheel was it...i drove it about 30 mioes bringing it home so evidently it works ok.
