I picked up my D-17 head from the shop. He showed me that 7 of the new guides just fall right threw, no interference fit. What can I do to fix the head?

Knurling is done to the guide so the valve will fit tight. In the case he is talking, he would have to knurl the head so the guid would fit tight, and i dont think that is done, but I could be wrong. I would check on oversized guides, perfect circle should make some. You should be bale to mic the inside of the head and then the valve, and find a guide to match

no,i meant knurl OD of guide but the more i think about it...oversize would be better...i dont think knurled guide would hold up in a diesel.
