What works best to get the three drain plugs out for the trans/hydraulic fluid? I don't have anthing that will work on a pipe plug's square hole. Thanks again.

yeah, that's what I used, a 3/8" extension on the ratchet...if that's too large you need to chisel the crud out...if too small, someone rounded it out for you and you'll have to get creative like soundguy says...

I'm not sure what size it is. I thought of trying to get them out with a ratchet, so I tried a couple different sizes (can't remember what they were...the two "main" socket sizes, I guess) and one was way too big, the other too small. I don't have a "just right" size. Any suggestions? I've never had to take a plug out like these before.

I was thinking it was a socket size. I'm pretty sure My G tranny case is a sideways B tranny case.

If all else fails.. and yours is wallered out.. get some square 'key' or round stock and take a grinder to it and make a 'just right' one.. then use a pipe wrench on it if it is round.. or box wrench if square.. praying might help too!

All else fails I've seen folks lay a big hex nut on a worn off plug and mig weld it to the plug.. then turn it out with a wrench. Weld seems to break the rust / corrosion free. I'd use that is a last resort.. especially since I've only got an ac stick welder, and my upside down welds ain't perty!

I use a 3/8" drive ratchet with out a socket. The square end that the socket fits on is the square size of the plug. I use an extention so when laying on my back I don"t have to reach so high.
