AC WD Low Compression on 2 and 3 cyl.

I finally got my WD going and found that the no. 2 and 3 cyl's are not firing. The compression is no.1-105, 2-45, 3-45 and 4-105. I hope that one of you could help. The tractor sat for 3 or 4 yrs. I don't know if valves are stuck or a head gasket is blown between 2 and 3.
I need some help .

Talk to the guy that ran it last. If it ran good four years ago, burned valves won't be the problem. Probably the head gasket is OK too. Stuck rings would seem the most likely.

Sometimes times they loosen up from use - getting warm and cold. A soak in a lubricant as suggested by "old" shouldn't hurt anything. Change oil afterwards.

Hey Tex, the tranny fluid and getting them a little hot has worked for me so many times I have lost count. But then on the other hand some poeple call me crazy when I do what I do and some just keep bringing there engines back every time they have problems. LOL

Rings maybe stuck on those cylinders. I'd fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a day or 2. I also when haveing that trouble will drain the rad and let it run for 5-10 minutes and shut it off after doing the tranny fluid. That gets the engine good and warm but not to hot and lets the rings etc loosen up.

The valves could be stuck or burned and the head gasket blown. My D-17 had the same symptoms had a blown gasket and burned valves. It sounds like the gasket is blown between the cylinders. I would not try to re-torque the head. Pull it and fix it. Gaskets are cheap. I had my D-17 head reworked new exhaust valves and milled for $130.00. Well worth it.
