My Buddy's looking for more HP to run His new 8 ft Bushhog. He's using a D-17 diesel now and has looked at D-19's, 190-XT's, 185's, etc. His dealer has a 6080 sitting on His lot that "Looks Rough, needs some work" My books show the 6080 ran a 1000 RPM PTO speed at the Neb. test. They were avail. with 540 correct? TIA

The 6080 has dual PTO. Have him make sure both shafts are with the tractor. They are simple to change, you just take off 4 19 mm nuts, swap shafts, and reinstall nuts.

Thanks. Sounds just like the setup Deere had on the 3010/4010's. I couldn't believe an 80-85 HP tractor would be 1000 rpm PTO only. Anything else He should look for?

Outside of the standard things like how the engine runs and starts, how the transmission shifts, etc., not much. They were/are a pretty solid little tractor.

A-C did have an update on the front of the engine to control the thrust on the crankshaft when the PTO clutch is disengaged. It would be nice to have it, but not essential. There is a manual disconnect on the PTO so one could operate the tractor without disengaging the clutch. As long as this is done it causes no problems.

Tell him to look for a triangle shaped casting on the front of the motor that kind of surrounds the front crank pulley. There is also a hub bolted to the crank pulley that carries a timken tapered bearing with a provision for grease. If it is there, then the tractor has the update.

These pieces are probably still available from AGCO, but with the way their parts prices have soared I would think it might be prohibitively expensive to do thru parts.

Thanks for the info. My Buddy knows His way around the "D" series really well but His newest tractors are a 210 and a 5020 compact. This dealer is trying to convince Him to buy something new enough He still stocks a few parts for. His dealer does a real good job on parts for Him though. He's been pretty deep into His D-12 Industrial, D-14, and several of His D-17's and He gets His choice in most cases of New or used parts and the new parts are delivered within a week. This 6080 sounds like it would do what He needs. We looked for a 6080 at the GOTO Saturday but a 6040 or 6050 was as close as We saw. He'd like a D-15 diesel and a D-19 diesel but He's running out of shed room.
