Bought a WD45 early this summer. There is no fluid in the tires or weight added to the tractor other than the wide front and the three point . Should I add fluid to pull in a little antique show in my area?Would I even be competitive without? I added 400 lbs to a JD 40 for saftey , and I think its in a class it can't compete in , so I never tried

I pull a stock wd-45 with fluid get from the 5000 lb. class up. I think that the fluid helps alot, but i also add weights.

I am just getting my WD ready for use and pulls. It looks like with all stuff on it for stock farm tractor lit will weigh in at just under 3500. Nothing in rear tires. The pulls I like and there are a few of aroundhere are long chain pulls, about 4' chains. With this length you don't need wheelie bars and a stock drawbar is fine. I have pulled it twice, got lucky and won one and got a 5th in the other. There were about 12 to 14 tractors in each pull. I had to weigh the tractor, but I don't have the PTO shaft on yet, or the hydraulic cylinders, or the air cleaner. I may double up on the fender brackets or have to add a little other weight, but nothing crazy to come in at 3500 as I have had to add200 lbs to get to 3500 without the mentioned parts. Point is,I am going to have a stock, usefull, tractor and it will be right at the weight I need for some fun at the pulls. No special drawbar, no whellie bars, no weights hanging off it, all things that would keep it from being a usefull tractor for normal stuff. I may not be able to put my belt pully on, but maybe I can too. No big deal anyway.

If it's a weight transfer sled, forget the calcium. If a Dead-weight pull, pull it at about 6000lb.

Check out Rim Guard, for fluid, it will not rust out your rims. Made from surger beets.

The Wd-WD45's I've pulled against all have front and rear brackets for the weights. I bought and repainted mine for show and parade use. Pulled it once and now I'm hooked. The classes are 3500,4000,4500,5000, some venture into 5500 but don't do so well. The main reason for the weights is to run 2 or more classes. My 1950 WD weighs in at 5020 with me on it. I belive the rears are full of calcium cloride to the top of the rim. I've placed 2,4, and 7th in the pulls. Making rokie mistakes. I don't want to screw up the paint so I'm leaving the fluid in and running in 5000 only.

Thanks, think I"ll go with fluid in rears.Owners manual says 4450 ,I doubt they were shipped with fluid.

Dad's WD45D will start pulling in the 4000lb class.. the only thing removed is the hydraulic pump, and turnout rims... and a hitch made for pulling.. and added wheelie bars.. you should be able to start pulling at that weight or lower.. but if you are going to pull one class.. 4500 would be a good starting point..
